History
Phoenix Rotors was formed in August 2003. We are a helicopter-only club - many of us have come from aeromodeling clubs that were generally dominated by fixed wing pilots. After a long search for a suitable site from which to fly, club members now have year-round access to a large grass field close to the village of Radcliffe on Trent near Nottingham. The site is within easy reach of shops and amenities with good access and safe parking. Click here to see our site
Now
Phoenix Rotors is now a BMFA-affiliated Group of enthusiasts for model helicopter flying. The club currently has around 30 members who fly RC helicopters regularly at the site. Members often meet up socially on a Wednesday night at the West Bridgford British Legion to fly electric indoor helicopters.
We have our own trainers and help people to produce, set up and fly their machines. The most common models are TT Raptors, Hirobo Sceadu's and Robbe Moskitos with some more specialised 3d and scale models as well.
Aims
The club aims to promote all areas of Helicopter modelling. We are eager to have members that can fly at any standard be it 3D, scale or just a gentle cruise about. We feel that getting this diversity will help to fuel our members’ interests in the hobby. We would like to see the club promoting the sport to the general public in the form of school visits and eventually shows and competitions. We encourage new pilots to achieve certification under the BMFA education scheme. To this end we have a training/safety officer and the attitude that any of our members will help you.
Phoenix Rotors insists that every member has BMFA insurance before flying.
